The Journal of Prison Education and Reentry (JPER) is a Diamond Open Access journal committed to making scholarly and practitioner knowledge freely available to the widest possible audience. The journal does not charge readers to access published content and does not require authors to pay article processing charges or other publication fees. This model supports equitable participation in scholarly communication by removing financial barriers for both authors and readers.
All articles published in JPER are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license. Under this license, readers are free to read, download, copy, distribute, share, adapt, and reuse published material for any lawful purpose, including research, teaching, policy development, and professional practice, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original author or authors and the source of publication is acknowledged.
The CC BY 4.0 license allows authors to retain copyright in their work while granting broad reuse rights to the public. This approach encourages the dissemination, visibility, and impact of research related to prison education, reentry, rehabilitation, criminology, adult learning, and associated fields.
By operating under a Diamond Open Access model and using the CC BY 4.0 license, JPER supports transparent, inclusive, and accessible scholarly communication. The journal aims to ensure that valuable research and practice-based knowledge can be accessed and used by researchers, educators, practitioners, policymakers, students, correctional professionals, community organizations, and individuals interested in prison education and successful reentry into society, regardless of their institutional or financial resources.
